Board Goals

Student Academic Achievement

The district instructional program shall promote the development and achievement of all students.

  • Students scoring below the proficiency level on required state assessments will receive tailored academic intervention in class and/or outside the school day.
  • Students who achieve at the highest levels will have access to specialized programs tailored to their abilities
  • The district will actively support staff in the use of innovative teaching practices that advance student achievement.

Student Health, Wellness, and Citizenship

The district will promote education of the whole child and advance responsible citizenship.

The district will ...

  • investigate creative strategies to improve student nutrition at school and at home
  • promote physical activity at school and at home preparing students to meet or exceed  the state standards for physical fitness  
  • actively support positive social and emotional development for all students
  • encourage and provide opportunities for students to actively participate in and contribute to their community.

Communication

The district will communicate in an open and positive manner.

  • The Board of Trustees and superintendent will increase visits to school sites.
  • The district will utilize technology to improve communication with parents, staff, and the community
  • The district will sustain an active dialogue with the community regarding the changes associated with the transition to basic aid funding, including holding periodic board meetings at each campus.

Fiscal Accountability

The district will utilize sound business principles to responsibly manage the transition from revenue limit to basic aid funding.

  • develop a plan for optimal utilization of district owned facilities as enrollment declines.     
  • investigate proactive strategies to enhance revenues and maintain responsible reserves.
  • partner with teachers and staff to explore creative strategies to best compensate them during the transition to basic aid and beyond.
