An evening with Jim Trelease (Thursday, January 17, 2008)

Jim Trelease’s book, The Read-Aloud Handbook, has sold more than 2 million copies and spent 17 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Combining wit, research and anecdote, Jim demonstrates how the simple act of reading aloud to children builds listening comprehension, stimulates listener’s imagination and enlarges vocabulary and attention span. The inspiration for Public Broadcasting’s “Story-time” series, Jim was an award-winning journalist before turning author and education lecturer in 1979. Jim will be retiring from the lecture circuit and our Hope School District event will be one of his last presentations for parents. Jim’s books are available for parents to checkout at our 3 school libraries. The event is scheduled for the Hope School multi-purpose room at 7:00 p.m.
