Previous Years’ CBEDS/CSIS
Prior to 2009, school districts in California had two separate methods available to them for reporting student data.
The California Basic Educational Data System, or CBEDS, was a single annual collection of data from county offices of education and school districts. The CBEDS data was collected on the first Wednesday in October, designated as CBEDS Information Day. The data described – by county office or school district – the staff characteristics, student characteristics, and enrollment by grade levels, staffing levels, and other demographic information.
The California School Information Services, or CSIS, program was an electronic statewide voluntary school information system used to facilitate the exchange and reporting of student information by county offices of education and school districts to the CDE. In Santa Barbara County, four districts participated in the CSIS program to compile and report their demographic data to the state. These school districts were: Orcutt Union, Santa Barbara Elementary, Santa Barbara High, and Santa Maria-Bonita.
