Internet Service Summary

The Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO) offers Internet access to public and private schools.  SBCEO is connected to the K-12 High Speed Network whose mission is to enable educators, students and staff across the state to have access to a reliable high speed network which has the capacity to deliver high quality online resources to support teaching and learning and promote academic achievement.  SBCEO can provide schools with T-1 access (1.5 Mbps) to the Internet all the way up to 45 Mbps.

The annual service fees are based on the projected costs to run the service for the fiscal year.  The fee is subject to change from year to year based on SBCEO’s cost to provide the services divided by the total number of subscribers. We act as a vendor which allows the districts to receive e-rate discounts on the services they receive from us and we process all the invoices required in order for the districts to receive these discounts.  We also offer web space to every school/district in the county so they can upload and host a website at no cost to them.

E-mail service is also available for an annual charge to all the school districts and SBCEO departments.  This service includes spam filtering as well as antivirus protection.  The servers that run these services are located in the computer room and we have a help desk support staff to assist with problems.
