Cirone wins County Supt. Of Year award from state organization

Bill Cirone, Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools, was awarded the 2006 Gaylord “Ace” Nelson County Superintendent of the Year award from the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCESA).

The “Perpetual Award for Outstanding Accomplishments” which began 27 years ago as a lighthearted acknowledgment between county superintendents who were friends, has grown into a very prestigious award granted to the county superintendent identified as having a significant impact working with and for the association.

The insignia on the glass statuette reads: “Coming together is a beginning; Staying together is progress; Working together is success.”

In keeping with tradition, the recipient identifies and recognizes the next recipient.

Said Superintendent Cirone, “It was very moving to be recognized with this honor by my fellow county superintendents. They all work hard to serve the districts and students in this state and I am proud to work with them in what we all believe is a very important mission. Being recognized by that group for the work we all do is particularly special and I feel very honored.”
