Howell named president of Partners in Education
|
Joe Howell has been installed as president of Santa Barbara Partners In Education for 2005-2006. Howell, a partner in the law firm of Howell Moore & Gough, LLP, is joined by Brian Sarvis, Superintendent of the Santa Barbara School Districts, who will serve as vice-president, and Ed Heron, vice-president of Coldwell Banker, who will serve as secretary/treasurer. Members of the executive committee for 2005 are Julie McGovern, Bill Cirone, Stan Gaede, Karim Kaderali, John Romo, John Wiemann, and George Wolverton. Santa Barbara Partners In Education, founded in 1977, is a non-profit organization composed of leaders from the local business and education community who collaborate in their efforts to support Santa Barbara area schools and students. Partners has provided over 5,000 computers to local needy families through its Computers for Families project established in 1998; efforts are currently underway for a $4,000,000 Sustainability Fund that will assure a computer and Internet access to every needy fourth grade student in the south coast in perpetuity. Other SBPIE programs include Adopt A School, support of the high school academy programs, Career Day, and student recognition events. |
