Five students to graduate from Los Robles High at Los Prietos Boys Camp
For the first time ever five students will graduate together from Los Robles High School at the Los Prietos Boys Camp on Oct. 11.
The Santa Barbara County Probation Department runs Los Prietos and the Santa Barbara County Education Office provides education to the student through Los Robles. All five, ages 17 and 18, will don caps and gowns at a formal ceremony held at the camp.
Chief Probation Officer Scott DeuPree said, “In the 60-year history of our Camp program, it has been rare for a minor to graduate from high school while in the program. To have five students graduate at one time is unprecedented. It is a testament to both the determination of the graduates to succeed and the dedication of the County Education Office teaching staff.”
County Superintendent of Schools Bill Cirone was equally enthusiastic: “These students have overcome daunting challenges and have risen to a level of success that makes everyone involved proud of what they have accomplished. We salute their hard work, their determination to succeed, and the many probation staff members and teachers who supported their efforts. We are all very proud, and we trust that, armed with this educational success, these students will be able to move their lives in a positive new direction.”
Families of the students will attend the ceremony.
