Cirone to honor Renard, President of 15th District PTA

County Superintendent Bill Cirone will honor Carla Renard, president of the 15th District PTA, at the festive Celebration of Public Education from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 17, in the auditorium of the Santa Barbara County Education Office, 4400 Cathedral Oaks Road in Santa Barbara.

“Carla Renard is being honored on behalf of all the PTA leaders, members, and parents of school-aged children who provide such vital and invaluable support to classrooms throughout our county every day,” explained superintendent Cirone.

The event will feature keynote speaker Frosty Troy, editor of the Oklahoma Observer, winner of more than five-dozen journalism awards, and nationally renowned speaker in support of public education as the foundation of our democracy.

Performances will include the Jonata School Bulldog Band and the San Marcos High School Madrigals.

Renard’s honor celebrates the unwavering support of the PTA through more than 100 years of serving public education in this nation.

“Before the turn of the last century, parents recognized the absolutely critical role they could play if they banded together with their children’s teachers for the common good. That support has grown geometrically and it now often makes the difference between failure and success,” said Cirone.

The Celebration of Public Education is open to the public, free of charge. Registration or further information can be obtained by calling Tracey Beauchamp at the Santa Barbara County Education Office, 964-4710, ext. 5290 or by emailing traceyb@sbceo.org.
