El Puente Santa Maria changing name

What’s in a name? In some cases, a lot of symbolism and a lot of memories.

El Puente Community School in Santa Maria will be formally renamed the Peter B. FitzGerald Community School at a ceremony to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7 at 402 Farnel Road, Santa Maria, in honor of the former principal and the legacy he left for all students and staff.

The ceremony will begin with a rededication of the tree planted in his memory in 1992 and will proceed with an unveiling of the school’s new name.

Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
