October 12, 1999Confident Parenting Workshop Slated
A Confident Parenting series will be offered in Lompoc free of charge at La Canada School, 620 West North Avenue, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, October 20 and 27 and November 3, 10, and 17. Free child care is available for children between the ages of 2 and 9.
The workshops are sponsored by the Santa Barbara County Education Office and the Santa Barbara County Drug Program Office.
"Confident Parenting workshops help parents give their children the self-confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills they need to do well in school, and to avoid problems with drugs and alcohol," said William J. Cirone, whose office cosponsors the program. Parents will also learn effective communication skills to improve family relationships.
The program is funded under a contract with the County of Santa Barbara.
