QAD, Inc.
of Carpinteria has become the prime local sponsor of TeachNet in Santa
Barbara County. Gary Clark, Cheli Hidalgo, and Kathy Burford were on
hand at the annual Teachers Network Curriculum Fair in early October,
representing QAD, Inc. and this major new partnership.
TeachNet is a program for K-12 public school educators interested
in developing, digitizing, and disseminating web-based curriculum materials.
explained County Superintendent Bill Cirone in announcing the new partnership.
TeachNet mentors help teachers integrate web-based lessons into
the classroom as a way to improve student learning. Classroom teachers
gain access to curriculum and technical specialists, grants, and a supportive
network to further develop their skills, he said.
QADs sponsorship provides stipends for the Santa Barbara County
TeachNet Mentors, who each produce two comprehensive curriculum units
that fully incorporate web technology.
TeachNet mentors are currently active at seven of the Teachers Network
affiliate sites: New York City, Boston MA, Miami FL, Santa Barbara,
Westchester NY, Wiscasset ME, and Ireland.
