November telecast spotlights visit with USAF Thunderbirds

Viewers will meet United States Air Force Thunderbird pilots during their recent visit to Vandenberg Air Force Base in the November edition of "Innovations in Education," produced by the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO).

Also scheduled is a tour of Cold Spring School conducted by Superintendent/Principal Art Fisher, a visit with La Cumbre Middle School sixth graders participating in their first Greco-Roman Festival as a culmination of their history unit on ancient times, and a look at some exciting websites that teachers can use in their classrooms presented by Shelley Crawford of the SBCEO Technology Training Center.

Upcoming educational events in November will be spotlighted in a "Calendar of Events" segment.

The monthly program airs in South County every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 20, and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 21.

In North County, it can be seen on the Government Access Channel every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m.

"The goal of the Innovations program is to show members of the community some of the cutting-edge programs occurring in our local classrooms," explained County Superintendent of Schools Bill Cirone, whose office produces the show.

The monthly program is directed by Annette Luciani and produced by Michael Burton, of the SBCEO instructional media services department, who travel the county in an effort to showcase a representative sampling of outstanding teachers and programs in Santa Barbara County.

Further information is available by calling Burton or Luciani at the County Education Office, 964-4711.
