December telecast spotlights songs and stories at Monte Vista School

Patti Teel will share her songs and stories with Nancy Revlin's first grade class at Monte Vista School in the December edition of "Innovations in Education," produced by the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO).

Also scheduled is a visit to La Patera School where Laret Peterson and Chris Carrera will show their IMPACT II project, "History on the Silver Screen," which allows students to view Indian history from a different perspective. Nancy Knight and DJ Perry will show their innovative weather unit for third graders at Hollister School.

Fred Borchers of the SBCEO instructional media services department will share the multimedia kits that are available for contracting teachers to use in their classrooms.

Upcoming educational events in December will be spotlighted in a "Calendar of Events" segment.

The monthly program airs in South County every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 20, and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 21.

In North County, it can be seen on the Government Access Channel every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m.

"The goal of the Innovations program is to show members of the community some of the cutting-edge programs occurring in our local classrooms," explained County Superintendent of Schools Bill Cirone, whose office produces the show.

The monthly program is produced and directed by Annette Luciani of the SBCEO instructional media services department, who travels the county in an effort to showcase a representative sampling of outstanding teachers and programs in Santa Barbara County.
