Workshop for Writers of Children's Books Slated March 7

 

A workshop for writers of children's books is slated from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, at the Santa Barbara County Education Office Auditorium, 4400 Cathedral Oaks Road.

Rachel Ballon, Ph.D., writer's psychotherapist and international script consultant, will discuss "The Psychology of Characters and Conflicts: From Heroes to Villains."

Participants will learn how to employ psychological techniques to avoid stereotypical characters and clichéd stories and to create believable characters in real life conflict, giving writing a powerful ring of truth.

The event is sponsored by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
