Childrens Creative Project Wins Statewide Award
The Childrens Creative Project (CCP), a program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office, received a statewide award for providing a quality program in arts education for students.
The award, presented by the California Alliance for Arts Education (CAAE), stated that the Childrens Creative Project is an innovative and exemplary program that provides collaboration with individual artists, arts educators, professional touring artists and local schools.
The California Alliance is part of a national coalition of nonprofit organizations working in partnership with The Kennedy Center to support policies, practices and partnerships that ensure that the arts are fully integrated into American education. "Creative Ticket * Schools of Excellence" awards are designed to recognize teachers, schools, and programs that have successfully used imaginative learning environments, parental involvement, cultural diversity, and community connections to offer students educational experiences beyond the classroom.
"We have always been proud of the outstanding accomplishments of the Childrens Creative Project under the direction of Kathy Koury," said County Superintendent Bill Cirone, whose office directs the program. "This award highlights the strength of the partnerships involved and the successes that have resulted. It is very well deserved."
