Five Schools Named Distinguished
All five schools in Santa Barbara County that applied for consideration as a 1999 California Distinguished School were selected for the honor. They joined 91 middle schools and 63 high schools nominated out of 289 schools statewide.
In this county, 1999 California Distinguished Schools are: Dos Pueblos High School, La Colina Junior High and Goleta Valley Junior High, all in the Santa Barbara High School District; Santa Ynez Valley Union High School; and Vandenberg Middle School, in the Lompoc Unified School District.
All will be represented at the 1999 Distinguished School Awards Ceremony May 21 in Santa Clara.
"I offer sincere congratulations to the students, teachers, administrators, staff members and parents associated with these California Distinguished Schools," said Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools Bill Cirone.
"Achievements such as these represent a partnership of efforts, and I salute all involved for their dedication and their results. These schools represent all the fine schools throughout Santa Barbara County and they help make us all proud of the accomplishments of public education locally. Congratulations to all."
