April Telecast Spotlights the Zaca Center Preschool in Buellton

 

The Zaca Center preschool in Buellton that mainstreams special needs students into regular activities will be spotlighted in the April edition of "Innovations in Education," produced by the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO). The preschool is a program of the SBCEO.

Also scheduled is Jan Marholin of the Carpinteria Unified School District who worked with local businesses to raise the money necessary to bring the Jason Project &endash; The Rainforest to the students of Carpinteria.

Another segment features Chris Mullin who has developed a unique way for his students at Santa Ynez High School to better understand how capitalism and communism were important influences in Europe at the end of World War II.

Some of the Assignment Discovery programs that air weekday mornings at 9 a.m. on Cox Cable channel 32 will also be previewed, along with a "Calendar of Events" listing for upcoming educational events in April.

The monthly program airs in South County every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 20, and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 21.

In North County, it can be seen on the Government Access Channel every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m.

"The goal of the Innovations program is to show members of the community some of the cutting-edge programs occurring in our local classrooms," explained County Superintendent of Schools Bill Cirone, whose office produces the show.

The monthly program is produced and directed by Annette Luciani of the SBCEO instructional media services department, who travels the county in an effort to showcase a representative sampling of outstanding teachers and programs in Santa Barbara County.
