Youth & Law Now Printed in Spanish
|
|
"Youth & Law," an A to Z guide for families to help understand the juvenile justice system, has recently been printed in Spanish and is now available free of charge to individuals and agencies interested in the topic. The original English version had been printed by the California Bar Association with assistance from the state PTA three years ago. The English guides are used locally in schools as part of the Understanding the Juvenile Justice System program coordinated by the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO). The publication was translated into Spanish by UCSB professor Dr. Giorgio Perissinotto, and printed by the County Education Office for distribution to a population of parents that often does not have access to the information provided. The translation was commissioned by the Juvenile Justice/Delinquency Prevention Commission and the SBCEO, working through the Youth & Law program. "These handbook contains critical information for parents to understand and we are happy to have a hand in making it available to the parents who are least likely to have access to the material," said County Superintendent Bill Cirone. Copies of the publication are available by calling Rita Kern at the SBCEO’s Center for Community Education, 569-3873. |
