Breakfast with Authors celebrates 50th year

The community will help celebrate the 50th anniversary of a unique Santa Barbara literary event when world-renowned authors and illustrators of children’s literature take part in the annual Breakfast with the Authors, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 in the auditorium of the Santa Barbara County Education Office.

Reservation deadline is Sept. 23.

The annual event, which has been held continuously for 50 years, welcomes adults only.
To date, the list of authors and illustrators includes: W. Royce Adams, Sue Alexander, Mel Gilden, Joan Bransfield Graham, Bruce Hale, Valerie Hobbs, Alexandria LaFaye, Fran Lantz, Francis Moss, Alexis O’Neill, Ted Pedersen, Joan Prestine, and Lee Wardlaw.

The program also includes a breakfast catered by Country Catering.

“This has always been a very special event because the authors and illustrators share tales and advice with an avid audience,” said County Superintendent Bill Cirone, whose office coordinates the program. “But this year is especially meaningful because it is the golden anniversary, celebrating 50 years of providing the community with access to these accomplished creators of quality children’s literature.”
