Homework will be sent home each Monday and will be due each Friday. Most often homework will be practice of a skill presented in class. Spelling will be part of the work each week. Homework in third grade will not usually be more than ½ hour per evening and will include some reading. As the year progresses there will be several home projects as part of classroom units of study. Parent help and supervision is needed for most homework.

Parent help is always appreciated. If you can help in the classroom or at home with record keeping or with special events please send a note or stop by and let me know.

Themes for the year will be local history and community, geography and the biographies of people who have made contributions in all areas from the sciences to art and culture. The class will develop a Community Service Plan which we will use and refer to throughout the year. American art and American artists are also a part of the year's study. A Science Fair is held in late spring and the whole class contributes individual projects.
Our math, social studies, reading and language programs will be described in more detail on Back to School Night when you are also welcome to look over text books.

Third grade has many "hands on" activities so children will at times get a bit dirty. Please send them in comfy, not best, clothing with shoes to play in every day.

Our daily schedule will be 8:30 to 2:30

La Tarea será mandada a la casa cada Lunes y tiene que ser regresada cada Viernes. Casi toda la tarea será practicando las destrezas presentada en clase. Deletreo será parte del trabajo cada semana. La tarea en tercer grado no será mas de ½ hora cade noche y incluirá algo de lectura. Mientras el año progresa tendremos algunos proyectos como parte de las unidades de estudio. Se necesita la ayuda por parte del padre/madre para supervisar la tarea cada noche.

La ayuda por parte de los padres es ciempre apreciada. Si usted puede ayudar en el salón de clase o en la casa manteniendo un record o ayudarnos con eventos especiales, por favor mande una nota o pase a verme.

Temas del año serán historia local y la comunidad, geografía y las biografias de gente que ha dado donaciones en todas las áreas desde ciencias a arte y cultura. La clase desarrollará un Plan de Servicio para la Comunidad, la cual nosotros referiremos durante el año escolar. El Arte Americano y los Artistas Americanos serán parte del estudio este año escolar. Cada primavera tenemos una Feria de ciencia y toda la clase contribuye con proyectos individuales.
Nosotros le describiremos con mas detalles los siguientes programas la Noche de Regreso a la Escuela matemáticas, estudios sociales, lectura y lenguaje, también usted es bienvenido a ver los libros que usaremos.

Tercer grado tiene muchas actividades "manos en" (hands on) los niños algunas veces se van a ensuciar un poco. Por favor mándelos con ropa cómoda, no la ropa mejor para que no la ensucien y zapatos para que puedan jugar diariamente.
