Welcome to
Dear Families, Welcome to all new and returning Adams students. I am looking forward to this year. Your child will be in Language Arts/Social Studies 3 out of 7 periods a day. This year we will engage in many different subjects including reading, writing and Social Studies. The 5th grade curriculum includes American History and Geography which will be interwoven with Language Arts whenever possible. The students will be assigned two research reports this year. Homework is given on a nightly basis Monday through Thursday. Homework for Language Arts should take 40 minutes. Reading 20 minutes nightly is the most important assignment. If the remaining homework takes more then 20 minutes have a responsible adult sign off on a partially finished Core worksheet by writing, "My student has worked hard for 20 minutes" and sign their name. This adult sign-off is mandatory to excuse homework. A reading log will be sent home every Friday night and is due the following Friday. Success in school starts by being prepared every day. Adult, please make sure that your student has a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast. Student should arrive at Adams by 8:25. Each student has been given an agenda in which to write down both nightly and long-term assignments. Please check it on a nightly basis. This is a good place for any comments or concerns you might have for us to respond to. I look forward to meeting you at the Back-to-School Night. Please feel free to call the office or us if you have any questions or concerns, 563-2515. I am looking forward to a terrific year! Sincerely, Mrs. Chin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
