We are all aware of the terrible toll that hatred, intolerance and violence have taken on our society. And, it is especially hard on society's most vulnerable members: our children. It is impossible to witness the distressing events and trends of recent times without asking why these horrible things happen, and what can be done to prevent them. Unfortunately there are no simple answers. Our problems are as complex as our society itself, and not easily understood. There are, however, ways that we can work toward a better future. Just as hatred and bigotry are learned, so tolerance, understanding and respect can be learned. Educating our children and ourselves is the most promising way for us to create a better world in which we all may live. This special sort of education is our work, and our wish is that you will help support it. It is our hope that, one day, we all will be able to move beyond tolerance, to true understanding and respect.
