Role:
Acquire and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of effective
teaching as outlined in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession
(CSTPs) and the 20 standards for the Professional Teacher Induction Program.
Responsibilities:
Complete
State required consent form.
Work collaboratively
with assigned BTSA Induction Support Provider for the two-year induction
process.
Meet weekly
(1 hour) with assigned Support Provider.
Participate
in monthly BTSA Induction Professional Development seminars/workshops.
Complete
CFASST Events with assigned Support Provider.
Receive
observations on your teaching and observe experienced teachers.
Effectively
use the California Standards for the Teaching Profession as a guide
for self-assessment in order to become a more reflective practitioner.
Develop
with the BTSA Induction Support Provider an Individual Induction Plan
(IIP) with professional growth objectives that align with district and
site goals.
Participate
in program evaluation process and provide feedback on the program's
effectiveness.

with other new and experienced teachers participating in the SB County
BTSA Induction Program.
Individualized
support from a trained Support Provider using CFASST as a self-assessment
tool.
Optional
continuing education units from UCSB extension.
Two release
days provided by the district to observe classrooms and/or plan with
Support Provider.
BTSA fulfills
the two-year induction program requirement in working toward the Professional
Clear Credential.
Support
Provider Criteria and Responsibilities
Support
Provider Criteria:
The selection criteria were developed by the Santa Barbara County BTSA
Induction Advisory Board and are consistent with the Support Provider's
specific roles and responsibilities.
An awareness
of Participating Teacher development.
Experience
in supporting Participating Teachers.
A willingness
to participate in required Support Provider training.
A professional
attitude and disposition (positive, enthusiastic, open to new ideas,
non-judgmental).
A willingness
to engage in the formative assessment process and spend the necessary
time to provide support assessment.
A willingness
to discuss assessment information and share instructional ideas and
materials with Participating Teachers.
Effective
interpersonal skills and a willingness to work collaboratively with
Participating Teachers.
A demonstrated
commitment to their own professional growth and learning and an excellent
role model.
Support
Provider Responsibilities:
Complete
State required consent form.
Meet weekly
(1 hour) with assigned Participating Teacher/s to observe, conference,
and support.
Complete
and submit the required monthly Support Provider Services Log.
Complete
CFASST Support Provider training and implement the programs as intended
to guide the professional development of the Participating Teacher/s.
Guide
Participating Teacher/s with their formative assessment and in the development
of the Individual Induction Plan (IIP).
Assist
the PT with completion of the Professional Credential requirements.
Participate
in the monthly BTSA Induction Professional Development Seminars with
Participating Teacher/s and other BTSA participants.
Collaborate
with BTSA Induction Leadership Team, District Coordinator, Trainers,
other Support Providers, and District and Site Administrators.
Assist
new teacher/s with acquisition of materials and resources, learning
site procedures and routines, and meeting site staff members.
Utilize
the two release days provided by the District to observe and assist
the Participating Teacher/s with completion of formative assessment
events, and in-depth planning (2 per Participating Teacher).
Participate
in program evaluation process and provide feedback on the program's
effectiveness.
Support
Provider Benefits:
Upon successful
completion of the Support Provider responsibilities a $1,100 stipend
for 1St Participating Teacher, $900 for 2"d Participating Teacher.
(Stipend includes training and work with Participating Teachers.)
Increased
professional growth in mentoring, coaching and teacher leadership through
collaboration with BTSA Induction trainers, presenters, and participants.
Three
years of optional continuing education units from UCSB extension.
Documented
professional growth hours to use toward renewal of the Professional
Clear Credential.
Network
with other new and experienced teachers participating in the SB County
BTSA Induction Program.
Two release
days (per Participating Teacher) provided by the district to observe
the Participating Teacher's classroom and complete formative assessment
events.
