Professional development is available for all center-based staff and family child care providers through research-based training and academic programs.

California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN)

• The purpose of CPIN is to provide professional development and technical assistance to preschool teachers and administrators to ensure preschool children are ready for school.

Incentives

STAR Project (First 5 Santa Barbara County, Early Care and Education Division)

• The Stipends for Training and Retention (STAR) project is a financial incentive program that encourages and supports ECE providers in their professional development. Credentials & Permits

Child care program staff credentials reflect the education and experience of the teachers/providers.

Accredited programs require specified staff training or education.

• For child care center staff, information is available at the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NAEYC accreditation.
