There are several types of child care environments: Family Child Care Homes, Child Care Centers, and After School programs. Each of these can provide high quality care.
Remember, no matter what kind of child care you are considering, use the Quality Child Care Checklist when you visit.
Child Care Centers provide early care and education for infants through school-aged children in non-residential settings and are licensed by the State of California
Family Child Care provides early care and education for infants through school-aged children in the home of the family child care provider and is licensed by the State of California
Some programs are not required to hold a license. These programs include before and after-school child care on school sites, drop-in recreation programs and some relative, friend and neighbor care.
