The Associated Student Body is open to all students enrolled in Cuyama Valley High School. The Student Body President chairs the A.S.B. Student Council. The remainder of the council includes the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations/Historian, and four class representatives.
The Student Council shall meet on a day set aside by the Student Council: at least once every two weeks.
The powers and responsibilities of the A.S.B. Student Council are:
· To act as a barometer of student opinion.
· To grant audiences to any club or individual at any time.
· To promote general social life in the school, including the sponsoring of dances and assemblies.
· To sponsor assembly programs, including honors assemblies.
· To authorize special days.
· To charter clubs. If necessary, to revoke them.
· To maintain the concessions for the classes.
· To create, supervise and coordinate committees for special services or activities.
· To promote respect for the school and private property.
· To approve the social calendar events sponsored by or involving the A.S.B..
· To pass on any necessary legislation to carry out any foregoing powers.
· To stimulate student interest in activities.
· To authorize class fund-raising events.
· To sponsor football and basketball homecoming activities.
· To maintain a student store.
For the 2002 – 2003 school year, A.S.B stamps or activity cards will be on sale in September; the price will be established by the A.S.B Student Council. A student body stamp or activity card will entitle the holder to a special discount on student activities and other benefits as voted by the A.S.B. Student Council. Proceeds from the sales of A.S.B. cards will go to the A.S.B. Treasury.
All A.S.B. Clubs must submit a fundraising request, a completed Preliminary Revenue Potential form and obtain pre-approval from the principal before the activity, otherwise all revenues will revert to the A.S.B. fund.
Ten percent of the profits of a
school related activity will be paid to the A.S.B. Treasury.
