Ron Zell is the Region 8 CCSESA Coordinator for Visual and Performing Arts in Santa Barbara County. Ron is the 2007 County Educator of the Year and teaches k-8 Music, Piano, and Band for the Buellton Union School District.

Knowing that the visual and performing arts contribute to effective schools, the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA), launched an Arts Education Initiative in early 2006. CCSESA urges every school to weave the arts into the fabric of the curriculum providing all students with a comprehensive education, kindergarten through high school. Vision
The visual and performing arts are an integral part of a comprehensive curriculum and are essential for learning in the 21st century. All California students from every culture, geographic region and socioeconomic level--deserve quality arts learning in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts as part of the core curriculum.
