School Wellness Policy

NEWS FLASH - Did YOU Know???

YOUR school district had a Federal Mandate to create a School Wellness Policy by June 30th, 2006. The purpose of the Policy is to outline NEW directions for each school district regarding the creation of healthier school environments.

There are three required areas that districts must address in the Policy; these include goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities that promote student wellness. Recommendations in each of these areas were written in the district’s policy format and presented to the school board for approval by June 30th, 2006.

Please ask YOUR school principal for a copy of YOUR school district’s recently passed wellness policy.

We CAN HELP YOU begin to implement the Policy at YOUR SCHOOL SITE.

Call Susan Klucker (805) 346-8456 PTA V.P. of Health.
