International Walk to School Day is October 8, 2008.

Every year, thousands of children in Santa Barbara County join children around the globe in walking to school. Walking with them are parents, teachers, principals, public officials, police officers. The event is fun and easy to organize. Now is the time to get started!

Also of interest for anyone interested in traffic safety around local schools is Measure D, the local sales tax measure that will be on the November ballot. PTA helped create this measure and made sure it contained a fund for Safe Routes to School projects. This will greatly benefit children and families throughout the county. Stay tuned for more news on this important measure on the November ballot.
