Santa Barbara County Foster Youth Services

The primary goal of Foster Youth Services is to provide support that will improve academic success for foster youth.

Children placed in foster care often face a number of educational challenges. Foster Youth Services, a program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office, was created by the California Legislature to oversee the educational needs of foster youth residing in licensed group homes. FYS serves as a resource for Santa Barbara County foster youth, care providers, case workers from Child Welfare Services and the Juvenile Probation Department, the Juvenile Court, and county school districts, by tracking school records, providing educational case management, facilitating multi-agency collaborations, and providing information and advocacy.
