8th Grade Parent Night
Parents of current 8th graders have the opportunity to find out about SMHS and talk with teachers, students, and staff about our school on January 14, 6:30 to 8:30pm in the Auditorium.
Goleta Teen of the Year!
Congratulations to Sandra Iraheta, Goleta Teen of the Year. Sandra was chosen from 70 nominations and 8 finalists. She wins a scholarhip to college. One other finalist, Danielle Gemberling, is also a San Marcos student.
Amazing Royals:
Kids Helping Kids Program!
Erik Holiday and Mark Skovoradko of Kids Helping Kids were named "Amazing Kids" for accomplishing something "awesome" in the South County. We also had 6 students receive Honorable Mention.

Royal Alumni!
Alex Mack, former Royal, was awarded the prestigious Draddy Trophy, given to the top senior scholar-athlete in college football. Alex graduated with a 3.61 from Cal Berkeley and plans to use the $25,000 prize to pay for his Masters in Education.
