Description
A challenging and engaging instructional program provided by a team of dedicated, experienced, highly motivated, and professional educators.

The Harding academic program consists of English/Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies taught by experienced credentialed teachers who provide standards-based instruction.  All students have access to the core curriculum, which reflects district-adopted and state-approved materials:  English/Language Arts (K-6: Open Court); mathematics (K-2: Scott-Foresman and 3-6: Harcourt Math); science (K-2: Open Court Science Connections, 3-5: Harcourt Brace Science; 6: Holt California Science); and social studies (K-6: Harcourt Reflections).  All students also receive daily specialized instruction in English by language proficiency levels. Teachers integrate literature, inquiry-based mathematics (Math In the City), and technology into their instruction. Teachers use a variety of strategies to ensure access to the curriculum by all students, including:  pre-teaching, re-teaching, cooperative learning, small-group instruction, individualized instruction, cross-age tutoring, the use of realia, and the use of manipulatives.

Goal
Develop a rigorous core academic program in which all students master and exceed grade level standards through powerful learning experiences that are delivered through highly engaging, relevant, and meaningful research-based activities, lessons and units integrated across content areas.
