Building Videos Can Build Language
(and it's fun too!)
Unit overview:

Objectives: Students will learn a basic vocabulary of video production, with two key intentions being intensive use of specific language, and practice in using words to create the conditions for real images. Of course, the actual video is a special kind of "student product" that can engage, entertain, and educate other students.

Timeline: The activities described here can be done in 4-6 periods of 50 minutes each. However, variables such as number of computers and cameras can extend the work considerably. In addition, I am still developing a number of extensions that can make the essential processes go WAY beyond this time frame. A few of these are listed in "extensions" and will be updated periodically.

Prerequisites- Some hardware, software and expertise are definitely neccessary. In the "resources" link are a variety of places to get more information, and some good online tutorials for teachers and students.
