Project Grants

Applications due: November 18, 2011

This grant category is for Santa Barbara County teachers who have successful, creative or innovative curriculum units or projects.

The recipients will display their projects at future events/dinners. The projects will be published in a catalog for all teachers in Santa Barbara County to informally adopt or adapt.

Project Grants are funded by our business partners. There are general funds that apply to any project idea. We also have a few business partners who have specified curricular areas for funding.

There are specified funds available for the following categories:

Math and Science Grants (We have LOTS of resources for this! Get involved!)

Service Learning projects that promote civic mission and students involvement in making a difference in their community.

Five - $500 Service Learning classroom project grants

Two - $500 Service Learning Science, Engineering or Math $500 grants

Service-Learning is a K-12 teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful service to the community (classroom, or school, or beyond) with academic instruction and reflection to engage students, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Through service-learning, students use what they learn in the classroom to solve real-life problems. They not only learn practical applications of their curriculum, they also become "actively contributing citizens and community members" through the service they perform.

Core Curriculum • Service to the Community • Student Voice/Decisions • Civic Responsibility • Reflection
