Project Grants Applications due: November 18, 2011 The recipients will display their projects at future events/dinners. The projects will be published in a catalog for all teachers in Santa Barbara County to informally adopt or adapt. There are specified funds available for the following categories:
Five - $500 Service Learning classroom project grants Two - $500 Service Learning Science, Engineering or Math $500 grants Service-Learning is a K-12 teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful service to the community (classroom, or school, or beyond) with academic instruction and reflection to engage students, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Through service-learning, students use what they learn in the classroom to solve real-life problems. They not only learn practical applications of their curriculum, they also become "actively contributing citizens and community members" through the service they perform.
