Teacher Innovation Grants - Open to SBCEO teachers: Child Development, Special Education, ROP, and JCCS

What are Teacher Innovation Grants?  The Teacher Innovation Fund provides grants for our own Office’s teachers to creatively explore new ways of helping students learn.  You may apply to:

  •  Develop an original teaching idea/new program which others can adapt, or enrich your core curriculum. (May include funds to visit model programs, hire consultants.)

  •  Experiment with ways to solve specific instructional/classroom/student management problems.

  •  Develop a project involving cooperation between you and one or more SBCEO teachers in the school/district where your program is located.

  •  Develop a project that encourages parent and/or community partnerships.

  •  Develop a project that enhances the school’s facility (e.g. visual art, recreation) and benefits students educationally.

  •  Learn a new skill that will benefit your students.

Who is eligible to apply? Any County Education Office certificated non-management employee may apply. Teachers may not apply for second year funding of a project which previously received a Teacher Innovation Grant. However, other work sites may apply to modify projects successfully piloted with these funds.

Where can I obtain help with my application?  Petti Pfau is happy to assist you, since she does not select grant recipients. Please contact her with questions. She’ll gladly visit your site to do individual or group brainstorming/coaching. You can also send her application drafts for comments: 964-4711 x5281; pmpfau@sbceo.org

If funded, what are my responsibilities?  If your application is funded, the deadline for completing your project will be June 1. A one-page written report, including evaluation, will also be due in June.

Application Deadline: November 21, 2008
