Teachers in school districts contracting for Student Library Services
from the Santa Barbara County Education Office have access to a very
useful program to motivate students to read. Reading Rainbow, hosted
by LeVar Burton, is a video program in magazine format designed to
involve students in carefully selected good literature.
Each kit contains one videocassette (VHS format), which focuses on a feature book plus some review titles on related topics. Also included is a single copy of each book covered on the video, and a teacher's guide. Titles selected for inclusion in the Recommended Readings in Literature, K-8 list distributed by the California State Department of Education are identified by an asterisk (*).

Kits circulate for two weeks. Teachers in school districts contracting for Student Library Services may request use of the kits by calling Fred Borchers at 964-4711 Ext. 5249 or by completing the Library Book Order Form and sending it to the County Education Office on your delivery day.
