Art class is for all students who have the desire to explore and create art!

Welcome to the Art Department!  At La Colina JHS our art experiences are centered around art history, critique, aesthetics, and art production… plus the Elements & Principles of Design… as well as meeting the California State Standards for Art Education.  Here are brief descriptions of our courses:

Beginning art – 7^th grade elective choice

One Semester of Art Exploration:

·       All Ability Levels Welcome!

·       Media:  graphite (pencil), charcoal, colored pencil, tempera and watercolor paint

·       Beginning Drawing Techniques

·       Color Theory

·       1- Point Perspective Drawing

·       Art Appreciation:  Italian Renaissance & Realism

·       A Pre-requisite for 8^th Grade Advanced Art

Advanced art – 8^th grade elective choice

1 year of art instruction

·       Media: graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, tempera and watercolor paint, pen & ink

·       Advanced Realistic Drawing Techniques

·       2- Point Perspective Drawing

·       Landscape Drawing & Painting

·       Watercolor Painting

·       Collage

·       Sculpture

·       Mixed Media

·       Art Appreciation:  Major Art Movements & Contemporary Art

Beginning Art  8^th grade Elective -1 Year Course

·       Combines the two Curriculums above
