English/Reading: This class emphasizes reading, writing, listening, and speaking.  Students study significant works, including some works of historical fiction.  These works align with the time period being studied in world history classes.  A wide range of meaning-making strategies is employed to help students construct meaning from text based on the philosophy described in California's English-Language arts framework, students will learn the tenets of the expository critique, literary response and usage, spelling and higher-level thinking skills are also an integral part of each course.  The result is a balanced program, which reflects the rigors of California's Standards for English/Language Arts..
