English 8

ENGLISH/READING 8:  This course continues with an emphasis on reading, writing, speaking, and listening.  Study skills and time management, language structure and usage, vocabulary and spelling, and higher-level thinking skills are an integral part of the course content.  Students study a variety of literary works, from various genres, including poetry, essays, short stories, plays, realistic fiction, and historical fiction.  The literature reflects the time period the students are studying in their American history classes.  The integration of technology into the curriculum continues in the form of word processing and internet research.  All curriculum and methodologies reflect those outlined as best practices and reflect the California State Standards for English/Language Arts.
