Mathematics: Students will be scheduled into mathematics according to the individual needs and abilities. Previous grades, test scores, and sixth grade teacher recommendations will be determining factors.

Math 7 General is for students who are below grade level. The focus of the course is working on basic skills while introducing Pre-Algebra concepts.  The goal of the course is to prepare students to take Algebra in the 9th grade.

Pre-algebra 1-2 GATE is for gifted and talented students and those with very strong ability, interest, and (98%ile) achievement level. The focus of the course is accelerated Pre-Algebra and an in-depth introduction to Algebra.  The goal of the course is to prepare students for 9th grade GATE algebra.  This course covers all of the CA state Standards for the 7th grade. 

Pre-algebra 1 is for students who are working at grade level.  The focus of the course is pre-algebra with an introduction to Algebra.  the goal of the course is to prepare students to take either Algebra or the slower paced pre Algebra 2 class in the 8th grade.

Algebra 1-2 GATE is for students who successfully completed Pre-algebra in the 6th grade.  The goal of this course is to prepare students to take second year Algebra in high school.  Qualifying students must pass the GATE test and teacher recommendation is required.  This class is taught by and 8th grade teacher with other 8th graders.
