#4 Word and Thought 'Balloons' |
Enjoyment, Entertainment!
Time: 1-2 hours ideally That's why we read comics, and this activity set is a great way for kids to get out of the 'work for pay' cycle. Presentation and print publication can be fun & celebratory. Some choices.... based on your access to resources, and time schedules. 1. On the big screen= from computer and projector, have kids 'tell the story' as each page is on the screen.... it's fun to see a team of 2-4 giggling kids sharing the action. (text balloons are not very readable.... this is an oral activity) 2. Print & Share- This can range from an exchange and read aloud among teams, to compiling, copying, and binding all the comics, and giving each student a copy to read (either in class, or at home)- An art activity can include each student making their own hand-colored cover with 18x11 paper........ even with prizes for the artwork. 3. Share with others? Submit pieces to student newspaper, reading or giving to other classes, grade levels...... take home and read with family. It's easy reading, and kids love to look at pictures of themselves and others. Parents get to see 'who they're hanging out with' ..... in a good way. (in resources, there are some starting points for where other comics are shared online. However, a fair number appear to lean towards the grown-up..... preview and decide how to proceed with this, if at all) |
