(http://www.cde.ca.gov/standards/) (http://www.iste.org/standards/) World History and Geography-Ancient Civilizations 6.2 Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the early civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Kush. 1. Locate and describe the major river systems and discuss the physical settings that supported permanent settlement and early civilizations. 2. Trace the development of agricultural techniques that permitted the production of economic surplus and the emergence of cities as centers of culture and power. 3. Understand the relationship between religion and the social and political order in Mesopotamia and Egypt. 5. Discuss the main features of Egyptian art and architecture. 9. Trace the evolution of language and its written forms. Technology-(from ISTE student indicators ....link) 3.Technology productivity tools Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity. Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-enhanced models, prepare publications, and produce other creative works. 5.Technology research tools Students use technology to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources. They also use the vocabulary of the visual arts to express their observations. Develop Perceptual Skills and Visual Arts Vocabulary 1.1 Identify and describe all the elements of art found in selected works of art (color, shape/form, line, texture, space, and value). 1.2 Discuss works of art as to theme, genre, style, idea, and differences in media. 1.3 Describe how artists can show the same theme by using different media and styles. Analyze Art Elements and Principles of Design 1.4 Describe how balance is effectively used in a work of art (e.g., symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial). 2.0 CREATIVE EXPRESSION Creating, Performing, and Participating in the Visual Arts Students apply artistic processes and skills, using a variety of media to communicate meaning and intent in original works of art. Role and Development of the Visual Arts 3.1 Research and discuss the role of the visual arts in selected periods of history, using a variety of resources (both print and electronic). 3.2 View selected works of art from a culture and describe how they have changed or not changed in theme and content over a period of time. |
