DISCIPLINE POLICY
La Cumbre is a Character Counts! school and educates all students on the six pillars of good character—Trustworthiness, Caring, Fairness, Responsibility, Citizenship, and Respect. Students are expected to cooperate, be courteous and show respect to each other and to all adults on campus. Hitting, kicking, or inappropriate touching and/or signs of affection are not allowed. Inappropriate birthday rituals (e.g. egg throwing, play assaults/fighting) are not allowed. We discourage floral/birthday balloon deliveries; they will be kept in the office and given to the student at dismissal. Electronic devices such as cell phones, iPods, and PSPs must be turned off and put away while on the school campus. Confiscated devices will be turned into Administration. Our basic premise is that:
- Every student has the right to learn.
- Every teacher has the right to teach.
- Everyone has a right to be free from physical and verbal abuse.
The La Cumbre Junior High School Student Guide has further details about student discipline and is sent home with students at the beginning of the school year. Extra copies are available in the school office. In all cases, disciplinary action will be dependent upon the situation, the student’s previous disciplinary record, and other background circumstances.
