The Read-at-Home [RAH] program supports and rewards nightly literature and reading experiences at home. Classes in art, drama, computer, science, Spanish and literature provide after-school enrichment. A tutorial center is available for students needing academic assistance. Parents also have an opportunity to receive ESL instruction. Monroe also promotes art through the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, with classes taught by working artisans. Fourth and fifth graders attend concerts given by the Santa Barbara Symphony. The Monroe annual Science Fair promotes an active science program and has been a springboard for many County Science Fair winners. Ninety percent of our students enter each Science Fair. Over 200 projects are on display. All of the programs depend on a relationship with parents and the school community that is valued for the respect, cooperation, support, and participation obtained. |
