Student/Teacher Ratio

The ratio of classroom teachers to students is defined in the contract with the Santa Barbara Teachers Association. Each elementary school campus is assigned faculty to provide a teacher for every 20 students in grades kindergarten through three and every 27 students in grades four through six.

Students are assigned to classrooms by grade level and, where appropriate, with a bilingual teacher. Decisions on class size are based on the numbers of students at each grade level and the desirability and balance of a mixed grade level group.
