What
is the Montecito Educational Foundation?
The
MEF is a private, nonprofit organization
whose primary purpose is to provide private
financial support to Montecito Union School.
These funds are used to maintain educational
excellence by meeting the needs of today,
while embracing the challenges of tomorrow.
Since 1980, the MEF has provided over one
million in financial support to Montecito
Union School. The Foundation was incorporated
as an independent, tax-exempt corporation
in 1980. A twenty-five member board of Directors
donates its time and expertise in order
to carry out the mission of the Foundation
and to meet its stated goals.
For
the first time, this year, MEF will directly
subsidize teacher's salaries in the specialist
programs, including art, music, Spanish,
PE, and computer technology as well as the
math and reading specialist programs. The
MEF will also continue to raise funds for
capital projects as needed to to build the
Bronte Reynolds Endowment Fund.

What
is the difference between the PTA and the
MEF?
The PTA sponsors many programs for the school
and raises money for many of the important
"extras" that the school would not
be able to supply. What they can't
do (by charter) is raise money for teacher
salaries, or build an endowment.
The MEF was formed to raise funds for building
projects, and with our endowment, it now has
a new purpose -- to support teacher salaries
for instructional programs that would have
otherwise been cut. We hope you will support
both the PTA and the MEF. |
