Technology Innovation and Teacher Training
Partners in Education and its programs are administered by the Santa Barbara County Education Office.
Partners has a long-standing commitment to promoting and supporting the effective use of technology in education and as a learning tool. In addition to providing training to teachers and students on hardware and software through our Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination program, Partners and the Partners Technology Committee oversees two primary technology based programs.Education Technology Ambassadors
Through this effort, Partners seeks nominations from the community of teachers in local schools who are leaders in using technologies as learning and teaching tools. Nominees are recognized for their efforts and are eligible for the Technology Ambassadors Award which includes resources to meet classroom needs, free individualized training and support for the teacher and/or their students, free admittance to the Classroom Technology Showcase and eligibility to participate as a presenter at that event which shares best practices in the use of technology with other teachers, education leaders and the broader community. This important program highlights the power of technology to improve student achievement and parent involvement.
Please re-visit this site in the spring to nominate a teacher for the Education Technology Ambassadors Award.
Classroom Technology Showcase
The Classroom Technology Showcase is a special event highlighting the outstanding work teachers and students are conducting in local classrooms. Specifically, the spotlight will be pointed on work that involves technology and the ways in which it is integrated in classroom instruction and learning. While use of technology and demand for technological skills grows in society, schools struggle to keep up with the rapid developments in computers, software and engineering.
Despite these struggles, some teachers and students are doing remarkable things with the technology they have on hand to enhance their teaching and learning.
This work will be showcased at an event in December of 2009. More information will be posted to this site closer to the time of the event.
