BEGINNING AUTO BODY
This two-semester course is
designed to equip students with entry-level skills to enable them to obtain
jobs as helpers in auto body and paint shops to:
1) do such jobs as remove,
replace and repair the various parts of an automobile body such as doors,
hoods, grills, and bumpers; prepare automobiles for priming, spot painting
and complete paint jobs,
2) develop a knowledge of materials,
tools and equipment used in auto body repair,
3) develop an appreciation
of good, clean, safe, skillful and accurate working methods,
4) develop common trade practices,
and
5) develop the responsibilities
of an alert, safe worker.

ADVANCED AUTO BODY
This two-semester advanced
course is designed to prepare students with current entry level job skills,
for advanced job placement in specialized positions. Upon completion of
the entry level training in Auto Body Repair, an advanced student will
be prepared to obtain jobs requiring skills in:
1. Creating the surface angles and curves to a desired specification
2. Layout and application of artistic designs utilizing pinstripping materials
on prepared surfaces
3. Perform custom painting to a customer's specifications
4. Perform custom design concepts off of detailed drawings or from verbal
instructions
5. Making a damage appraisal, estimating labor and parts costs, and completing
required paperwork
6. Ability to repair plastic materials and equipment, understand plastic
repair methods of specific specialized materials

This two year
comprehensive course covers the principles of operation, care, maintenance
and repair of the automobile. The many physical laws of nature relating
to the theory of operation and actual use of the automobile will be presented
via demonstrations, discussions and individualized instruction. Two-thirds
of the total course hours will be devoted to practical, hands-on working
situations in a high school shop setting. Appropriate charts, films, videos
and field trips will supplement course instruction.
Articulation
with Santa Barbara Community College: Those
students who complete this course with an A or B grade, and who have successfully
completed all course competencies will not be required to take the prerequisite
Auto 101 or Auto 110 courses at Santa Barbara City College, but will instead
be able to enroll in one of the specialty automotive service courses.
Upon successful completion of the student's first SBCC specialty automotive
service course, SBCC will award retroactive college credit for the Auto
101 and Auto 110 course satisfied by taking this ROP course.

develop an understanding of the principles and conditions of employment
in financial institutions and will prepare the student with entry-level
skills required for employment as a bank teller.
Instruction will cover the
following: banking terminology, basic bookkeeping, check processing, cross
selling, teller procedures, reading of computer printouts, location of
errors, operation of a variety of banking machines, etc.

This two-semester
course is designed to provide advanced theory and practical experience to
adults or high school students who have completed their certificate program.
Experience during both semesters
will be in the on-site child care laboratory continuing to participate
and do in-depth study and projects. Their emphasis will be on advanced
responsibilities and experiences similar to a head teacher.
Articulation
with Santa Barbara Community College:
Those students who complete this course with an A or B grade, and who
have successfully completed all course competencies, and who enroll in
SBCC within two years from the semester date on which the course was completed
at the secondary level, and after successful completion of SBCC courses
ECE 103 and ECE 104 with a grade equal to that received upon completion
of the ROP course, will be awarded college credit for ECE 152B.

A 90-hour course designed for
juniors and seniors who are interested in computer science. The course
has two major segments: Object-based programming and HTML/Java script
Web page design.
In the object-based section,
students will learn how to use Microsoft¹s Visual Basic. They will design
user interfaces, set the properties for the different controls, attach
code to the controls, work with forms, buttons, menus, dialog boxes, radio
buttons, checkboxes, code event procedures, and compile their work creating
a setup program. Students will learn program design, arithmetic functions,
If/Then statements, and how to use strings. In addition, students will
learn how to improve the appearance of printed reports, design interactive
programs, summarize, using subtotals and group printing, learn how to
write programs in modules, learn how to use controlled loops, create tables,
sort data, handle character data, and create data files.
In the HTML/Java Script portion
of the program, students will learn programming for the Web. They will
create numerous Web pages for business, government, and educational institutions
and learn how to use image tags, links to other pages, frame tags, table
tags, form tags and scripting to validate input.

This job preparation course
will provide students with skills necessary to gain an entry-level position
in the field of Graphic Design and Digital Imaging.
The course will cover the use
of the Macintosh computer, scanners, digital cameras, CD-ROM digital libraries,
design, illustration, and proof printing in the digital imaging industry.
Students will learn to use
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Quark, Painter, Kai's Power Tools,
Bryce 4, and other appropriate image creation software. The focus will
be on graphic design and editing for generating files for print publication.
Students will keep a portfolio of their work to show prospective employers.
Successful completion of this
course will prepare students for entry-level employment in graphic design,
multimedia, and Internet industries.
Prerequisites: Completed a
beginning art class and a computer operations class.

A basic course in construction
skills and concepts. The emphasis is on wood construction. In succeeding
semesters there is increased opportunity for individual responsibility
and self-paced learning activities in non-wood trades, including electrical,
plumbing and dry wall.
Entry level job skills, effective
work habits and safety is stressed. In addition, the course emphasizes
the concepts of construction technology, which are necessary for further
technical training and career advancement.
Basic math, graphic and verbal
communication skills are developed. Classroom instruction will be paired
with construction lab activities and simulations in order to cover course
subject areas. Whenever possible, this lecture/lab simulation format will
be supplemented with appropriate construction projects that fit into the
course scope and sequence.
Upon completion of this 360-hour
course sequence, students will earn a Certificate of Skills that details
the competencies they have mastered. Program graduates will be eligible
for entry level employment in the area of construction specialty pursued
in this course.

The computer Technology and
Repair Course will train students in fundamental computer maintenance
and repair and prepare students to take the A+ Certification Exams. Students
will learn and develop entry-level skills utilizing classroom small/large

The students will learn (1) the workings of disk drives, computers, monitors,
and printers, (2) the operation of test equipment, and (3) the electronic
fundamentals necessary to understand and service basic computer systems.

This is a simulated business
class that is modeled on the successful Virtual Enterprises International
program taught in many high schools and colleges throughout the world.
It is designed to give students the experience of working in a real business
environment.
The students will determine
the nature of their business, its products and services, its management
and structure, and learn the daily operation of a business under the guidance
of the instructor with the support of real business partners.Emphasis
will be placed in using current business software packages and the Internet
for business transactions.
Students will conduct transactions
with other high school and college Virtual Enterprise businesses in California,
the United States and throughout the world. Students will be engaged in
a variety of specific activities including market research, advertising,
buying and selling products and services, accounting, paying wages and
taxes and negotiating loans with a central bank.
The Junior Achievement economics
unit has been incorporated into the curriculum to provide the students
with an overview of micro and macroeconomics. Students will study supply
and demand, the Federal Reserve System, taxation by local, state and federal
governments, business organizations, the stock market, and international
transactions.
This course
qualifies for Economics credit for graduation; it will also satisfy UC
A-G entrance requirements.

OCCUPATIONS COOPERATIVE COURSE is a combination of paid on-the-job-training
and related classroom instruction designed to help the student gain successful
entry-level employment in the foods industry.
This course will provide students
with opportunities to prepare for and achieve career objectives in selected
food service occupations. Learning experiences are designed to lead to
employment and/or advancement of individuals in occupations in public
or private enterprises or organizations related to the multifaceted food
service industry.
