Summer Math and Science Academy
COSMOS is the name for the California State Summer School in Mathematics and
Science. COSMOS will provide a summer residential experience for highly
motivated academically talented high school students. It is hosted by UC
Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis and UC San Diego. Students entering grades 9, 10,11,
12 in the fall school year from all California public and private schools
are eligible to apply for admission. Students must have previously
established academic excellence in science and/or mathematics.
While topics may vary among the sites, participants will have
opportunities in biochemistry, oceanography, oceanic studies, biomedical, or
environmental engineering, discrete math, non-Euclidean geometry, earth
system science, computer and information science, psychobiology, marine
biology and other advanced topics.
Tuition is approximately $2200 for California residents for the 4-week
session - July to August. Scholarships and financial aid are available. The general

accepted beginning January 16 through March 16.
