 SBJHS GATE Academy
The GATE Academy at Santa Barbara Junior High is an interdisciplinary team approach to providing a rigorous,
standards-based academic program. GATE Academy students will share four common teachers and be exposed to a common curriculum,
regardless of their class schedule. Using this model, GATE students will benefit from GATE Academy teacher articulation
across subject matters, and from one grade level to another.
The GATE Academy is staffed by eight outstanding and experienced teachers who specialize in meeting the
needs of GATE students. This team meets regularly to align their assignments, projects, and tests, and to develop interdisciplinary
units. They also continue their professional development in differentiating the curriculum using depth, complexity,
